Using video to recruit new employees gives you the opportunity to show potential applicants more than just the skillset you are looking for - you can also give them a little sneak-peak into your business. This way you can attract more talent and also more applicants that will fit into the company culture and perhaps meet more of the personal qualities you also look for in a candidate.
The example below is a recruitment video we created to attract applicants for the position as Digital Marketing Manager 🌟
We wanted this video to give potential applicants the opportunity to get a feeling about our team, our culture, and give them some insight into what personality traits we are looking for. In this blog post, we will break down the steps on how we created this video, and how you can easily create something similar for your next recruitment.
First, we decided that in this video we wanted to show off our team and give a feeling of who we are and the culture we have here at VIBBIO. We figured that the thing that would help us do that best was "behind the scenes" images and video clips, showing that we are a fun group of people.
And so, we dove into our archives and found footage from old events, video shoots, bloopers, and other fun stuff we had laying around. If you want to create a similar video yourself, we recommend doing some behind-the-scenes filming with your phone here and there at the office, at events, or during company trips so you can have these types of clips ready for when you need them.
In most cases there will be a landing page where the applicant can read more details about the open position and also apply. So for our video, we decided that it wouldn't be necessary to add all the nitty-gritty details about the open position. We rather wanted our video to be a teaser to draw people into the actual job listing, and decided to keep it short, fun, and to-the-point, giving only some key points about who we are and some of the things the applicant will get by working here.
What do you want the candidates to do next? Contact you directly or maybe go into the job listing, and read the rest of the specifics and apply? Whatever your call to action is, it should be clear and to-the-point and make it easy and obvious for viewers to figure out what to do next. This is the call to action we decided to add:
And that's it! Once we found the style we wanted to go for and the clips we wanted to use, the rest was pretty straightforward!
Here's another example of a recruitment video that goes more into detail about the role itself. Both examples can work well for recruiting, but it's all about choosing what you think would work best for when you're hiring.
