Get Hooked

In today’s social media marketing landscape, you can’t be an eye catcher if you don’t have excellent bait.

By that, we mean that in our social media scrolling world, you have 3 seconds to get the attention of your audience, and that is why you need to have a great HOOK. Something that will capture their attention and encourage them to continue watching.

We have said it before, and we will say it again: PLEASE don’t waste valuable time on putting your logo at the beginning of your video. People are not on social media to be sold to, they’re are there to be inspired, learn something of value or hear about something that is of interest to them.

So what’s a good HOOK?

A good hook can be a question, a statement or a claim. Something that does not only peek interest, but also something you can follow up. Don’t leave your viewers feeling that they have been the victims of a oh-so-awful clickbait video. Below is a video example of a statement hook.

However, your hook doesn’t always have to be text, it can be visuals that are interesting and eye catching. Whether it is movement or colours, it needs to be make your viewer stop, and then make the choice to continue watching.

We think this advertisement from Noisy is a perfect example og visuals as a Hook, followed up by text and color. Go check it out!

We know it is easier said than done, but spending time on perfecting the first 3 seconds of your video might determine the outcome for how well your video does online.
