People are sick of advertisement, sort of.

As social media grows, so does the amount of advertisement on them. Most people can say that they have at one point scrolled down their Facebook feed and felt that there has been an overload of ads.

Potential customers have a constant target market on their back by companies trying to connect with them, and 91% of people say ads are more intrusive today than two years ago. (HubSpot, 2016) 


So how can you use social media and online platforms to promote your business to an audience without seeming intrusive or putting them off? Well, 86% of consumers prefer more authentic and honest brand personality. This means that if you create the right content it will be less intrusive and your viewer will be more receptive of your message. However that is obviously easier said than done, but it is not impossible. 

For example, if your company is focused on having a work culture that is humor filled, as well as hardworking, you should let that shine because it can be a selling point. Show them your employees and how they work to create products in that environment, and the audience will feel more connected to your brand.

Or maybe your company is taking a stand for something they believe is worth investing in. Whether that is sharing part of the proceeds to a charity or working towards getting more diversity in your particular field, you can let your audience know why that is important and a focus area for your company, and they might share your values and want to support you more. 

And lastly, knowledge is power. Companies have so much knowledge of their field, so why not share this with your audience? Your target market is probably very interested in expert knowledge, whether that is tips and tricks videos, facts or news about the industry you operate in. Always aim at creating content that adds some value to the viewer. 

Perhaps these examples sparked some ideas for what to create content about. All we know is that inbound marketing is all the rage, and for good reason because consumers are asking for content of value! So don’t be afraid to try something new.
