The Best Websites To Find Free Stock Images

The 3 Best Websites To Find Beautiful, Free Stock Images

We are firm believers in that when it comes to videos, the message you want to convey is the most important. And to get a message across, you don’t necessarily need to use video clips – still images can work just as well!

The good news is that there are many websites out there where you can download beautiful stock images for FREE! Here are 3 websites where you can find beautiful, free images to use in your next marketing video.

UNSPLASH

Unsplash is everyone’s favourite stock site here at VIBBIO. We love it and use the site to find images to use for many different purposes – for blog posts and social posts, but also for our videos!

  • Licence: All photos published to Unsplash can be downloaded and used for free, both for commercial and noncommercial purposes. You do not need to ask permission from, or give credit to, the photographer, although this is appreciated and encouraged.
  • Types of photos: Anything from amazing nature shots, and office images, to cool concert photos. Yes, it’s a cliche, but at Unsplash, the sky is the limit! Most images you’ll find here are minimalistic in style and visually “clean”, and they therefore work particularly well in videos.
  • BONUS:  Unsplash collections: Explore photo collections that are based on themes, such as “Halloween”, “Black and White Minimalistic”, or “Adventure”. Browse through all the collections here

PIXABAY

Pixabay is also a good alternative for free stock images, although most of the photos don’t have the same “clean” style as they do at Unsplash.

  • License: All images here are released under the Creative Commons CC0, and may be “used freely for almost any purpose – even commercially and in printed format. Attribution is appreciated, but not required”.
  • Types of photos: A variety of images within many different categories. The images here tend to be less “clean” and minimalistic than they are at Unsplash, but you can definitely find stunning images within many different categories and themes if you are willing to spend some time searching. The site tend to provide more “artistic” images, so if that’s what you’re looking for, this is the place for you.
  • BONUS: One of the things that I like about Pixabay, is that they also provide free stock video clips. So, if you’d like to add some video clips to your videos, Pixabay provide a wide selection within different categories. You can also get simple graphics, illustrations and vector graphics – the possibilities are many.

PEXELS

Pexels offer beautiful, high-resolution images, and they tend to be more visually “clean” and minimalistic than they are at Pixabay – although the style of the images do tend to vary a bit.

  • License: Like the two other sites, all photos on Pexels can be downloaded and used for free, both for commercial and noncommercial purposes. Giving credit to the photographer is not necessary but always appreciated.
  • Types of photos: At Pexels, you can find a wide selection of beautiful high resolution photos in many different categories, but that’s not the best part. My favourite part about the site is that you can actually browse photos by colour! This function is handy if you want to find images you can use in your video that are cohesive in terms of colour and style, without spending hours just searching and scrolling.
  • BONUS: Like Pixabay, Pexels is also a good place to get both images and video clips, if you’d like to use both in your videos. Go to videos.pexels.com to find video clips in a variety of categories.
